Top 5 life lessons Rahman style

Ever wondered how A. R. Rahman became the musical genius that he is today? Apart from his passion for music, Mr. Rahman presents a number of valuable tips and lessons that can be applied in each one’s life to achieve ultimate success. On the occasion of this legend’s birthday, here are the top 5 life lessons Rahman style.

1. Family First

We have all grown up listening to this piece of advice, but how many have actually implemented it in our lives? Rahman has always adored his parents and especially his mother, who raised this family alone after the death of her husband when Rahman was only 9 years old.

His speech, when he received his first OSCAR was beautifully dedicated to her. His music speaks the same tale, like Luka Chupi from the iconic film Rang de Bassanti.

2. Spirituality

According to A.R.Rahman “I am more of a spiritual person. And I believe in being consistent with my spirituality. As one grows in life, one realizes the magnitude of spirituality. It is the most beautiful passion. It raises you above all the negativities. For me and my music, spirituality is the most important element and I don’t think I can create the kind of music I do, if I don’t practice spirituality.”

His dedication towards spirituality is also evident through his music. Khwaja mere Khwaja from Jodha Akbar and Arziyan from Delhi 6 are beautiful renditions of the same thought.

3. Love your country

When Rahman humbly accepted an OSCAR he quickly pointed out that this was a collective Indian victory. His patriotism flows in all his patriotic songs including “Jai Ho,  ‘ Vande Mataram ‘ which honestly injects a wave of kind positive energy into our hearts. Hats of to a man who never turned his back on his country regardless of the success he achieved.

4. Remember your Roots

Mumbai is known to be the city of dreams. Every aspiring artist comes and settles down in this city in the hope of achieving ultimate success. But Rahman preferred not leaving his home. The brilliance of his work is drenched in the scent and essence of his home. Pieces from films like Roja, Bombay, Rangeela, Taal and Dil Se speak the language of sands from home.
